SATURDAY
Future of the Left

Future of the Left are from south Wales. They all used to be in some other bands, and this is something usually gets mentioned when people talk about them. We’d do this, but we don’t really think it’s relevant anymore, especially since their debut album was released last autumn to fantastic reviews. It’s called Curses!, by the way, and was released by the fine people over at Too Pure Records. Anyway. They’ve since toured up and down the UK and made trips to Europe and Australia and played at SxSW, and now they’re playing for us! Their Saturday night headline slot at This Ain’t No Picnic comes at the end of a busy summer for the band, which sees them playing more UK shows as well as at the Reading and Leeds festivals. We pretty sure they’re also off to North America after they play for us. World domination surely awaits?

SUNDAY
Polysics

Polysics are our headliners for the Sunday night of This Ain’t No Picnic 2008. They hail from Tokyo, Japan, and have released six full length albums of what they dub “technicolour pogo punk” (think: blasting guitars, high energy beats, computer noise, a love of Devo, etc etc..) in the last ten years, whilst taking their wild and critically acclaimed live show all over the world. As I’m sure you can appreciate, we’re really excited about seeing them play, especially if they do their cover of “My Sharona”. It has robot vocals, y’know.
